Eat Hike Eat -

Great bunch of folks at Blue Chair. We had a good subgroup of frostbiters to hike from Greens View to 41 A at the Gate (Sally H, Dave A, Jim P, Joan H, Robert D, Freddie D, and Tom B). Interesting frozen waterfalls, seeps, and nearly frozen hikers. After the short hike we gathered some goodies and went over the the Community Center for lunch, fellowship and a very intersting program by Maureen Handler of the Sewanee NSS Grotto. The local group, with help from cavers from all over the south removed 40,000lbs of trash. This a very good start on the cleanup of the Russell Cave watershed in the Orme area. They have an interest in cleaning up the Carter Mt area; Joette whatcha think? Here are some of Freddie's and Tom's pictures. Hope to add some from Robert Davis and Jim Poteet.

Chili Chilly Hike

Thanks to Marietta and Jim for the wonderful party on the mountain. Some of us were absolutely convinced that we we going to drown and become hypothermic for sure. Those that didn't have to sign in as Chili Wimps.

Dave Peterson

One of our members, Dave Peterson, recently passed. He was a friend, a mild mannered co-worker and fellow TTA hiker. While he didn't get to hike with us often in recent years his spirit will remain with all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, January 5, 2009 at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home chapel with burial to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma. Visitation was Sunday. Dave you will be missed. -Tom
