It was a great day to get into the outdoors and 25 folks were there. It was a slow hike, (apologies to the fast hikers) but it was a delight for the younger members of the party (Lacey, Taylor and Julianna). They learned about blue blazes, flowers, pacing ones self, eating food for energy and water. Zak the rock hound found some obsidian for his rock tumbler, and the rest of us had plenty of time to view the green valley below and just enjoy the trip. Pete seems to have two new converts (Deanna and Brian) to the barefoot hiking approach. Ah to be light of foot once again - argh
! Welcome to Carla on her first venture with us. Thanks to Sally and Dave for acting as lead and sweep.

Joette Hike - Wolf , Farmers Cove,...
Fantastic trip shared with the Huntville Sierra Club for a total of 18 hikers. This hike started at the top of Carter Mountain area and progressed ~7-8 miles down through a series of sinks/coves and back up. Most was cross country bushwhacking but ocassionally included some trails. This guy (and at least one other) who did well at first, learned several lessons which I will list for the benefit future hikers: 1) stay fit, 2) take enough water for conditions, 3) take enough food, 4) make sure you have plenty of electrolytes, and 5) judge the distances and elevation changes. Routine eh? Should be; but all of the above conspired to bring about a mild case of hyperthermia. Thanks to those that shared water.
Joette did a great job of leading and showing off the abundance of caves, sinks, streams and waterfalls.
