The Bob Town EHE Hike

Yesterday was a beautiful day for an EHE Hike. The weather held off , it was almost balmy and certainly the Blue Chair was full of TTA folks. John B and Carolyn F applied their love of the area to creating a nice tour of the Bob Town area. We got a chance to view the recently added 3000 acres now a part of the Sewanee Domain. We stayed on top as we first followed a small creek and then did a little cross country walking in the woods to stay aong side the cliffs. The views included the Cape of Good hope and the Point of Despair. We came back along one of the fire trails that Cheston (Sewanee forester) added many years ago. The pines that were planted to be able to spot it from the air clearly make it look like the Alpen way. Dick and Camille McC attteded the Jazz group at the Community Center afterward and we ended the day at the Crust. If you didn't go on this one you missed a good one. Here are the rest of the pictures

Virgin Falls Hike

Jim and Marietta Poteet lead this well attended hike to Virgin Falls. (aslo see Murfreesboro blog for more pictures. Dave Anderson joined took some interesting pictures of the participants and the falls. Nora H is featured gobbling goodies. [lol - because I can htbiii]. And there is a picture of a cable assisted stream crossing of Jim.The Virgin Falls area on the Caney Creek is really a geological exhibit of cave development in a karst topography. The cave systems develop as one goes from Big Laurel Falls to Virgin Fall s by way of Shepards Falls. If you haven't done this one it is this is a must a must do for all. Place it on your "bucket list."

Treking in Peru - Bill and Marcia

We had a great trip down the Amazon; saw pink and grey river dolphins, sloths, several varieties of monkeys, caimans, and lots of birds. Now we´re in the mountain town of Aguas Calientes, the jumping off spot for Machu Pichu. We´ll tour the ruins tomorrow. Yesterday, we toured the Sacred Valley, where there were several Inca ruins, then visited a weaver´s village. The ladies there showed us how they dye, spin, and weave their fabrics. In the jungle, we visited a shaman, who showed us the different medicines he uses. He also performed a health and good luck blessing on each of us. It´s all been very interesting. Onward to more adventures!
