Float trip - Duck River

The float trip seemed to be a real success as 27 people attended. It was enough of a challenge to keep it interesting. With a massive sea of colorful kayaks lined up behind Cortner Mill there was a gracious plenty of food to try.
This was the first time that we have tried to offer several possible trips in one. Since there were three possible take outs along the way, Cortner Mill, Dement Bridge and Three Forks this was offered at the begining. Some of the folks from Sewanee opted out at Dement Bridge. The rest continued down to Three Forks. We picked up Tony Jones who bought his way back in with a couple of welcome cheese pizzas at Cortners.
The Highland Rim Chapter 10% rule did not have to be invoked. Nor did it rain on our parade. The river was the most crowded I have ever seen. The sad part is, it was the most cluttered with empty beer cans and trash that we have seen in recent years. This is in part due to the ease of rental boats from Normandy Kayak rental   http://normandykayakrental.com/ They, as do we, have a vested interest in keeping this wonderful stretch of river clean and pollution free.
